Kateryna Chernohorenko: The Drone Coalition allocates €20 million for reconnaissance UAVs for Ukraine
The partner countries of the Drone Coalition have decided to allocate €20 million from the joint fund to procure tactical-level intelligence, surveillance & reconnaissance drones (ISR) for the Defence Forces. The delivery of drones is expected within three months.
“We are grateful to our partners for addressing this critical need. Speed and adaptability in making this decision are of utmost importance, particularly now that the Defence Forces urgently need these drones. With them, the military can conduct reconnaissance and improve their units’ situational awareness, which is essential for effective combat operations,” said Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defence for Digital Development.
As a reminder, in February, the Drone Coalition launched its third international tender for multi-rotor reconnaissance drones. For the second time, Ukrainian developers had the chance to participate in it. The submission period for the tender has ended, and the first selection phase is in progress.
The Drone Coalition was established in February 2024 during the 19th Ramstein meeting. This idea was put forward by Latvia. Coordination of the initiative is carried out in collaboration with the UK. The Coalition currently comprises 18 countries: Latvia, the United Kingdom, Australia, Czechia, Denmark, France, Estonia, Italy, New Zealand, Canada, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Germany, Sweden, and Ukraine.
