Investments, training, support for the Victory Plan: Ukraine and Estonia strengthen defense cooperation
Estonia will increase investments in Ukraine’s defense industry and work to expedite relevant agreements. This was discussed during a meeting between Ukraine's Defense Minister, Rustem Umerov, and his Estonian counterpart, Hanno Pevkur.
The parties discussed practical steps to enhance cooperation, including investments in Ukraine’s defense industry, additional military aid packages, contributions to the IT coalition, and training for Ukrainian service members.
“We focused specifically on preparing our brigades. I invited Estonia to assist in their training and equipping, following the example of other partner countries,” Rustem Umerov noted.
One of the key topics of the negotiations was the support of Estonia in the implementation of the Victory Plan of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
During the meeting, both sides also highlighted the progress of European countries in providing one million rounds of ammunition to Ukraine’s Defense Forces by the end of the year, as well as the significance of directing parts of new aid tranches, sourced from frozen russian assets, toward developing Ukraine’s defense production.
The next meeting between the ministers is planned for the end of 2024 to review progress and plan further steps for the coming year.
