Increased ammunition supplies and joint ventures: Ukraine and Poland enhance defense cooperation

During a working visit to Warsaw, Ukraine's Defence Minister Rustem Umerov met with Poland's Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

The parties discussed the primary needs of the Ukrainian military. Rustem Umerov expressed his gratitude to the Polish people and government for their unwavering support, particularly highlighting the recently announced military aid package.

“Our closest neighbors were among the first to provide military support to Ukraine from the very beginning of the full-scale invasion.  Together, we are strengthening Europe’s security. The defense of the continent is our shared responsibility,” the Minister of Defence of Ukraine emphasized.

As a result of the meeting, the parties reached an agreement on the following:

  • to continue the delivery of military aid through the territory of Poland;
  • to enhance cooperation under the ‘Czech Initiative’;
  • to advance projects in the defense industry, including the establishment of joint ventures in Ukraine or Poland;
  • to expand the training program for the Ukrainian military, within which Poland has already trained over 30,000 Ukrainian warriors.

In the upcoming days, the Minister of Defence will hold a series of meetings with other European allies and friends of Ukraine. The main focus of the visits will be on urgent supplies and long-term security projects.
