In January, over 8,700 hectares of de-occupied areas were cleared by Ministry of Defense demining specialists
In January 2025, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine's mine clearance units cleared 8,755 hectares of de-occupied land from explosive hazards.
The results of these activities include:
- Demining of 8,682.14 hectares of agricultural land;
- Clearing of 11.38 km of roadways.
In January, sapper units detected and neutralized 6,011 explosive devices. Since the onset of the full-scale invasion, the total number of defused devices has reached 422,888.
As of January 31, the number of certified mine action operators reached 80. Throughout the month, their total increased by nine operators.
According to the MoD’s Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety, teams from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, explosive ordnance disposal units of the National Police of Ukraine, and pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine are involved in government-sanctioned units of central executive bodies carrying out operations to remove explosive remnants of war from formerly occupied areas.
Humanitarian demining in Ukraine is exclusively carried out by mine action operators, as mandated by the Law of Ukraine on "Mine Action in Ukraine.”
