Implementation of the “Impulse” system is beginning in the Unmanned Systems Forces

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have launched the third wave of deployment of the “Impulse” military personnel record-keeping system. Its implementation is now also beginning in units of the Unmanned Systems Forces. The “Impulse” system had previously been deployed in the first units of the Air Assault Forces and the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The system is being deployed in several stages, from infrastructure preparation and secure environment setup to data migration and the transition to daily operation within the system.

The “Impulse” system is being developed and implemented by IT specialists from the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s Center for Scaling Technological Solutions. They are service members with combat experience who have a strong understanding of the practical needs of military units and the specifics of service under wartime conditions. Accordingly, the system is tailored for practical use at the unit level. Deployment is being ensured by units of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Over 200 military units are already operating within the “Impulse” system on a daily basis.

“Several units of the Unmanned Systems Forces have already received the necessary equipment and are beginning to set up a secure environment for operating the “Impulse” system. It is expected that the system will significantly accelerate data processing and analysis, enabling even more accurate and timely decisions that directly impact units’ ability to perform assigned missions,” explained Ivan “Grinch”, Head of Digital Transformation of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The “Impulse” is more than just a day-to-day tool for personnel record-keeping. The system lays the foundation for the further digital transformation of the military. Going forward, the system’s data will serve as the foundation for developing other digital services across the military, including SAP-based defense resource management, the Army+ application, and the Medical Information System.
