How to file a request report for a change of duty station via Army+: common mistakes and recommendations
The Ministry of Defence explains how to properly file a request report for a change of duty station via the Army+ app to improve the likelihood of approval and prevent rejection.
Who is eligible to change duty station?
Currently, a change of duty station is permitted only between units within the structures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or the National Guard of Ukraine.
What documents are required for a change of duty station?
- Letter of recommendation. A sample can be downloaded in Army+ when submitting a request for a change of duty station. To complete this step, go to the screen for adding a letter of recommendation, select the help text in the lower part of the screen, and download the template. The letter is valid for 30 days from the date of signing. Ensure that your request is submitted within this timeframe.
- Military document. For example, a military ID card, an officer’s ID, or other official documentation. During the upload process, ensure that section numbers are not confused with page numbers. Section numbers are always indicated together with their respective titles.
Should the requested position require additional documents — for example, a certificate from the Military Medical Commission or approval from the Security Service of Ukraine — these must be prepared in advance and uploaded via the appropriate screen.
Submitting a request report for a change of duty station: typical errors and how to avoid them
- Blurred photos of documents. Use a high-quality camera, or ask a fellow service member to take the photo and send it via a secure messenger — then upload it from the gallery.
- Incorrect designation of the position in the letter of recommendation or in the request report. The position title must be written in full and without abbreviations. Example: if your position is stated as ‘senior gunner of the 1st crew, 1st self-propelled artillery platoon, 3rd self-propelled artillery battery, 1st self-propelled artillery battalion,’ you cannot shorten it just to ‘senior gunner.’ Such a request report will be rejected.
- A discrepancy exists between the position title stated in the letter of recommendation and that indicated in the military records. Ensure that the position title in the letter matches the one shown on the screen with your military records.
- A discrepancy exists between the unit number stated in the letter of recommendation and that indicated in the military document. The unit number indicated in the letter of recommendation must correspond precisely to that in your military document.
- What should you do if your military unit has changed its number? If your unit has been renumbered or reorganized, attach an official certificate confirming this change. Otherwise, the Personnel Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will count only the time of your service in the unit under its new number. If this period is less than six months, your request report will be rejected.
Before signing, verify all data and correct the request report if any inaccuracies are found. After submitting the request report, expect a decision within 72 hours.
