Glib Kanevskyi: The Defence Procurement Agency was granted authority to fund procurement-related associated services

Currently, the Defence Procurement Agency has 30 active contracts with foreign manufacturers from 13 countries

The Defence Procurement Agency, a state enterprise under the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, can now use state budget funds to cover additional services related to executing defense contracts.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, at the initiative of the Ministry of Defence, amended the pertinent Procedure. The updated regulation allows the Defence Procurement Agency to allocate budget funds for the payment of:

  • Customs duties;
  • Freight forwarding services;
  • Logistics, brokerage, and agency services;
  • Commission expenses;
  • Costs associated with opening and maintaining accounts in foreign banks.

“Currently, the Defence Procurement Agency has 30 active contracts with foreign manufacturers from 13 countries. This resolution will enable the implementation of international projects for procuring ammunition and weapons from global manufacturers abroad and ensure their logistics across the EU,” explained Glib Kanevskyi, Director of the Procurement Policy Department of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

Expanding the agency’s authority is expected to accelerate the defense procurement process, particularly from foreign suppliers, thereby directly enhancing Ukraine’s military capability.
