Evgeniy Khmara: The lives and health of our warriors must be a priority for every commander

Acting Minister of Defence of Ukraine Evgeniy Khmara and Deputy Minister of Defence Liubov Halan visited military medical facilities where Ukrainian defenders are undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.
The lives and health of our warriors are the priority
During the visit, they spoke with service members receiving treatment and undergoing recovery, medical staff, and the leadership of the facilities. Issues requiring decisions by the Ministry of Defence have been taken up and are being addressed.
The Ministry’s objectives are clear: we must do everything possible to safeguard the lives of our warriors on the front line, ensure high-quality medical care when they are wounded, and create the conditions necessary for service members to return to duty following treatment and rehabilitation.
According to him, medical training, timely evacuation, and support for wounded service members within military units will remain under constant oversight. The lives and health of our warriors must be a priority for every commander.
Supporting military medical facilities
During the visit, particular attention was given to support for wounded service members, examinations by Military Medical Commissions (MMCs), patient care pathways, and the protection of service members’ rights throughout treatment and recovery.
We are working to make the process easier for service members after they are wounded and to ensure their rights are respected at every stage. To achieve this, we need to strengthen support from military units, simplify the Military Medical Commission (MMC) examination process, and streamline patient care pathways. We will further develop the medical facilities where our defenders undergo treatment and rehabilitation and support the professionals who work with them.
In particular, the Ministry of Defence will focus on infrastructure upgrades at military medical facilities and support for medical professionals. This includes seeking additional resources to further develop these facilities, including by securing assistance from international partners. Providing medical care to Ukrainian defenders requires a modern healthcare environment and motivated, well-trained personnel, Evgeniy Khmara emphasized.
He thanked doctors, medical staff, and everyone who works every day to help Ukrainian defenders regain their health and strength.
