Denys Shmyhal: Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive 3 million FPV drones by the end of the year

By the end of the year, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive 3 million FPV drones—nearly 2.5 times more than were delivered last year.

“The role of unmanned systems on the battlefield continues to grow, making the production of innovative warfare tools our top priority. Meanwhile, most of the drones in our warriors’ arsenal are domestically produced,” stated Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

This year, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine’s Defence Procurement Agency (DPA) delivered 2.4 million FPV drones to the military, with the majority procured through direct contracts with manufacturers.

A further 200,000 UAVs were supplied to the military through the DOT-Chain Defence IT system, launched in late July.

In addition, our warriors' arsenal now includes more ground robotic systems (GRS). This year, nearly 15,000 GRS were delivered to Armed Forces units—several times more than last year.

“Ground robotic systems are employed for logistics, evacuation, reconnaissance, mine-laying and clearance, as well as patrolling. Certain ground robots are equipped with weapon stations and are used in offensive and defensive operations. We are continuing our efforts to provide our warriors with a technological advantage on the battlefield,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
