Denys Shmyhal and Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz agreed on new joint projects in defence sector
In Kyiv, Ukraine’s Defence Minister, Denys Shmyhal, met with Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
“Ukraine possesses unique combat experience, well-trained service members, and modern technologies that are altering the course of the war. We stand ready to share this experience, including with our Polish partners. Today, we reached an agreement on several important steps with Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz,” stated Denys Shmyhal.
In particular, Ukraine and Poland will strengthen cooperation between their defence industries and in the area of air defence. The parties stand ready to advance joint projects involving aerial, maritime, and ground-based drones, as well as robotic systems. At the same time, Ukraine is prepared to share its experience and train Polish military personnel and engineers in implementing defence systems across various domains, particularly in the airspace domain.
“We are establishing a Joint Task Force on Unmanned Aerial Systems. Another priority is ballistic missiles and artificial intelligence,” noted the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
In addition, Poland stands ready to implement joint projects with Ukraine within the framework of the SAFE program, under which it has received €43.7 billion. According to Denys Shmyhal, this mechanism should become one of the key instruments for joint defence programs.
The countries are also intensifying their efforts within the Ramstein-format Capability Coalitions to address both the immediate requirements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and their long-term modernisation.
“We all understand that russia remains the greatest threat not only to Ukraine but to the whole of Europe. That is why it is so important to act together and to respond decisively to threats,” the Minister of Defence of Ukraine emphasised.
He thanked Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz for his visit to Kyiv. “We express our gratitude to the Polish people and government for their unwavering support and assistance. Ukrainian warriors feel this support on the battlefield, and it saves lives every day,” emphasised Denys Shmyhal.
