By the end of 2024, the Drone Coalition's support for Ukraine is projected to reach EUR 1.8 billion
Support for Ukraine from the member countries of the International Drone Coalition, led by Latvia and the United Kingdom, is set to reach €1.8 billion by the end of 2024.
This information was reported by Latvia's Ministry of Defence.
“Drones have become an integral component of the russian-Ukrainian war. This represents a technological advantage that enables the deterrence and elimination of the enemy. Therefore, it is essential to continue efforts to scale up their production in Ukraine and among Western nations,” said Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitalization.
The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to the partners for their consistent and steadfast support of the Coalition, as well as for recognizing the significance of this initiative for global security.
“The International Drone Coalition has become a vital platform for advancing the drone industry, which will further bolster our national defense in the future,” said Latvian Defence Minister Andris Sprūds.
The goal of the Drone Coalition is to ensure the industrial production of FPV drones and expand the drone industry in both the Western countries and Ukraine, aiming to create an asymmetric technological advantage over the enemy on the battlefield, in line with the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Drone Coalition operates a Joint Fund dedicated to drone procurement, where it holds regular competitive tenders to encourage the creation of innovative products. The fund totals EUR 83 million. All other assistance is provided by Coalition members on a bilateral basis, including both unmanned aerial vehicles and financial support.
