Army+ app major update introduces digital ID, ‘Pulse’ feed, and easier access to key features
The Army+ app has been updated with new features, bringing it one step closer to functioning as an everyday app for service members. The update includes a defender’s digital ID, the ‘Pulse’ feed with official explanations and advice, a notifications section, and an updated design and navigation that make access to the most popular features easier.
One of the key updates is the expanded functionality of Army ID. It now provides not only a unique nine-digit ID number for submitting reports, but also a defender’s digital ID to confirm service member status.
The digital ID does not replace paper military registration documents, but will be helpful during checks, including at checkpoints. Army ID now includes a photo and basic information accessible via a QR code, which can be scanned by representatives of Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers (enlistment offices) or the Military Law Enforcement Service (Military Police) to obtain a service member’s details.
“People are the Ministry of Defence’s top priority. Digital solutions save time and effort, simplify access to services, remove barriers, and open up new opportunities. More than 1 million service members are already authorized in Army+, with around half a million using the app regularly. Today, Army+ received important new features that will be useful to service members every day,” said Denys Shmyhal, Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
In addition to the digital ID, Army+ has launched the ‘Pulse’ feed, featuring explanations of service members’ rights and opportunities, practical advice, and valuable experience. For example, it explains what types of leave are guaranteed for service members and how to calculate long service allowance based on combat service.
The app’s design and navigation have also been updated. Reports, training courses, and other functions are now grouped under the ‘Services’ section, with the most popular ‘Pluses’ feature moved to the top for quick access. In addition, a notifications section has been added, enabling users to monitor essential messages and report statuses over time.
Army+ has already become a key digital tool in everyday service, with 70% of military units using the app to process reports and more than 1.2 million reports signed overall. The most commonly used reports are those for annual leave, health recovery, and requests for Form F5 (military service record).
“We will continue to develop Army+ for everyday use by service members. We will update training, transform reports into clear, situation-specific services, and streamline access to certificates and extracts so that all of this takes less time and causes less stress,” said Mstyslav Banik, Head of Digital Products at the Ministry of Defence.
The Army+ app was developed by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine together with the Center for Scaling Technological Solutions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where IT specialists with combat experience serve.
Army+ continues to develop as an everyday app for service members, focused on people and on delivering clear, useful features throughout their service.
