A course for training military personnel in Support Services has been approved

The updated retraining courses for social support specialists have been approved by the Central Directorate for Civil-Military Cooperation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (CD CMC GS AFU).

The training will last for 8 days and will include modules on regulatory frameworks related to social guarantees, as well as tools for delivering comprehensive support services.

“Special emphasis is placed on the capacity of support service specialists to engage with communities and partners to provide targeted solutions to individuals seeking help. Additionally, the courses explain the mechanisms for obtaining benefits and guarantees for service members and their families,” said Colonel Oleksandr Kutkov, Head of the CD CMC GS AFU.

He noted that the course curriculum includes strategic workshops, case simulations, and practical algorithms for supporting the families of military personnel in crisis events, such as when a service member is missing in action or wounded.

Thirty military unit representatives will soon attend the updated course.

Among the lecturers are professionals in public administration and social policy, human rights experts, lawyers experienced in assisting service members, and mental health analysts. The trainers also include representatives of non-governmental and charitable organizations that support the social and legal protection of service members and their families.

According to the regulations, Support Services assist military personnel and their families with legal, social, household, and medical matters. In support of this, staff inform them about their rights, benefits, and opportunities at various stages of service, provide consultations, and assist with completing documents.

Furthermore, the Support Service ensures ongoing communication between service members, their families, healthcare facilities, social services, public organizations, and government authorities in resolving legal, household, and social issues.
