5,000 pickup trucks for the Defence Forces of Ukraine: Ministry of Defence launches its first large-scale vehicle procurement through Prozorro
The Ministry of Defence’s Defence Procurement Agency DOT has launched an open procurement procedure for 5,000 pickup trucks to meet the needs of the military.
This is one of the first examples of large-scale delivery of pickup trucks to the Defence Forces of Ukraine through an open tender, and the largest number of such vehicles ever provided to the military by the state.
For the first time, we are supplying the military with such a large batch of vehicles through an open tender procedure in Prozorro. Pickup trucks are among the most in-demand types of vehicles on the front line and have long remained outside the state's focus. This type of vehicle is essential for logistics, evacuation, unit mobility, and drone crew operations.

Transparent tenders will enhance competition in pickup truck procurement
Tender procedures will be conducted, including through the Prozorro electronic system, to ensure transparency and strengthen competition in procurement.
For procurements of this scale, broader supplier participation is essential, as competition directly improves both supply resilience and procurement effectiveness.
Pickup truck pricing and delivery timelines
The tender process is expected to take place in several phases. Depending on the configuration, the expected cost of a single pickup truck will range from UAH 1.3 million to nearly UAH 1.8 million. Delivery of the entire batch of vehicles is scheduled to be completed by December 2026. At the same time, the first vehicles will reach military units before the onset of cold weather.
It is important to stress that this open tender procedure enables the most efficient use of budget funds. Competitive tenders will help lower the final procurement cost. Furthermore, the procurement is divided into several lots, which reduces dependence on a single supplier.
Most importantly, the system operates under transparent and equal rules for all participants.
Framework agreements and risk diversification
The procurement will be implemented through a framework agreement mechanism, under which the Agency has already analyzed market proposals, including pricing for vehicles meeting the required specifications.
The entire quantity will be procured after additional market analysis to attract a broader pool of suppliers.
Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine simplified the procurement of used pickup trucks for military needs.
