185 Ukrainian service members freed from russian captivity

185 Ukrainian service members have returned home from russian captivity. Almost all of them had remained in captivity since 2022.

Among those released are defenders of Mariupol and Azovstal, as well as participants in the defense of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant.

These are service members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including representatives of the Navy, the Land Forces, the Territorial Defense Forces, and the Air Assault Forces, as well as military personnel of the National Guard of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service.

Those released from captivity will undergo a full medical examination, receive physical and psychological rehabilitation, and be granted all state-guaranteed payments.

“We thank each of them for their heroism in defense of Ukraine. We are grateful to all who helped bring Ukrainian defenders home. We will continue doing everything possible to return all our people from russian captivity. We remember each and every one,” stated Denys Shmyhal, Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
