Yuriy Dzhygyr deliberates with US officials on the blueprint of the Strategy for the Development of Internal Audit with US representatives

Deputy Minister of Defence Yuriy Dzhygyr held a working meeting with officials from the U.S. Department of Defense Office of Inspector General led by Joseph Inginoli, Analyst/Evaluator of Oversight Programs at the Office of the Inspector General of the US Department of Defense. 

The parties discussed ways to improve the internal audit system. The Ukrainian delegation briefed their American counterparts on the progress of the MoD’s Strategy for the Development of Internal Audit. 

Officials from the U.S. Department of Defense Office of Inspector General assured to provide their expert assessment of this document.

“One of the ambitious goals of the MoD's Strategy for the Development of Internal Audit is to develop a set of measures to ensure real, not declarative, independence and objectivity of internal auditors' conclusions, to formulate policies and instruments for prevention outside entities from impacting the identification of audit subjects and outcomes,” said Yuriy Dzhygyr, who is also the Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Ministry of Defence. 

He added that the independence of the internal audit in the interest of the audited organization is a fundamental aspect of INTOSAI’s international standards for internal audit independence in the public sector and the Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS).
