Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Oleksandr Serhiy met with Major General Christian Freuding, the Head of the Planning and Command Staff of the Federal Ministry of Defence of Germany, during his visit to Ukraine.

The parties discussed the supply and repair of weapons and military equipment, as well as prospects for developing the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Oleksandr Serhiy expressed gratitude to the people and the government of the Federal Republic of Germany for their support extended to Ukraine in combating russian aggression. 

The Ukrainian delegation briefed international counterparts on the urgent needs of the Defense Forces. There were discussions regarding potential new agreements concerning weapons and military equipment models.

“The substantial assistance provided by your country is strengthening the capabilities of the Defence Forces of Ukraine to repel the armed aggression of the russian federation. The more contemporary weapons and equipment, ammunition, and air defense systems from the allies, the better protected Ukrainian cities are, the more opportunities we have to put pressure on the aggressor on the battlefield,” Oleksandr Serhiy noted.

Christian Freuding mentioned that he had traveled to various parts of Ukraine, including the frontline areas, and was open to discussing future collaboration.

The discussion also centered on collaborative projects to fix military equipment given to Ukraine and to educate experts.

“The implementation of these projects holds significant importance in enhancing the rapid reaction to today's challenges in fulfilling the requirements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and advancing the domestic defense industry,” Oleksandr Serhiy said.

The parties also discussed the prospective framework of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

We aim to comprehend the future model of the AFU. This will enable us to offer the necessary assistance in the most effective manner,” said Christian Freuding.
