Volunteers aged 18–24 will be able to pursue higher education without interrupting their military service

The Verkhovna Rada approved a draft law, initiated by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, that enhances the right to education for young individuals who have joined the Defence Forces under contract or conscription during mobilization.

“We are improving the terms of military service for citizens aged 18–24,” said Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

Under the draft law, young service members are entitled to:

  • the right to pursue higher education without interrupting military service;
  • guaranteed retention of the place of study and stipends for the period of military service;
  • the right to a leave of absence for study at a higher education institution.

“This initiative enables citizens aged 18-24 to both participate in the defense of their country and acquire skills and competencies for future career advancement,” emphasized Denys Shmyhal.
