Valerii Churkin called on partners to invest in innovative projects aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities

Valerii Churkin, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, participated in an online meeting of national armaments directors from member countries of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (‘Ramstein’ format).
In his address to the participants, including representatives from the United Kingdom, Germany, and other partners of Ukraine, he stressed the need for additional funding for innovative weapons that enable Ukraine to deliver an asymmetric response to strikes by a more powerful adversary.
“With your help, we will be able to counter emerging threats effectively. Let us stand united in resisting russian aggression,” said Valerii Churkin.
He noted that Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire, whereas russia continues its offensives and, according to intelligence reports, is ramping up its military capabilities.
Given these circumstances, Ukraine is enhancing its defense capacities by prioritizing innovative technologies.
In particular, according to Valerii Churkin, Ukrainian-made drones are approximately three times less expensive than their foreign alternatives.
Furthermore, supported financially by partners, Ukraine’s air defense program can offer effective and cost-efficient interceptor systems.
“We are already conducting asymmetric, high-tech operations. With your investment support, we can enhance their effectiveness even further,” the Deputy Minister stated.
