Ukrainian MoD technical delegation discusses drone acquisition and joint production agreement with the United States

The delegation of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, mandated by the President of Ukraine, discussed the technical details of the ‘Drone Deal’ with the United States.
The primary purpose of the visit was to discuss with US teams the procurement of Ukrainian-made drones and their effective use.
The Ukrainian side presented its proposals regarding specific drone models, their effectiveness, and operational conditions. The Ministry of Defence team held a meeting with representatives of all service branches of the United States Armed Forces to discuss the U.S. military’s needs for Ukrainian drones.
The U.S. side highlighted Ukraine’s expertise in developing the drone sector, including the production of not only UAVs but also maritime drones and ground robotic systems.
The technical teams’ negotiations constituted a preparatory step toward the signing of the ‘Drone Deal’, earlier announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The agreement provides for the acquisition of Ukrainian drones under a five-year contract. In addition, provision is made for the joint production of several Ukrainian models.
On a separate track, the Ukrainian and U.S. teams discussed the supply of U.S. weapons to Ukraine under the PURL mechanism. The primary focus was on supply plans for 2026 and the potential for increasing delivery volumes.
