Ukrainian defense companies to train their own AI models on the Avengers Labs platform
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has granted Ukrainian defense companies access to the Avengers Labs platform. The platform was created to train AI models for unmanned systems using real battlefield data.
The platform was developed by the Center for Innovation and Development of Defence Technologies, the team behind the DELTA combat system.
What data are available in Avengers Labs
Avengers Labs is built around an annotated dataset of 5 million frames collected on the battlefield. Most of the data comes directly from the DELTA combat system and is continuously supplemented with new data that has practical value in combat conditions.
The data cover a wide range of targets:
- tanks;
- artillery;
- air defense systems;
- infantry;
- aerial targets, including Shahed UAVs and reconnaissance drones.
Access to Avengers Labs accelerates the development of AI-powered technologies: a dataset of comparable scale and quality is virtually impossible for private companies to build.
AI detects 70% of all enemy targets
The Avengers Labs dataset was used to train an automated target detection system that has already demonstrated its effectiveness in DELTA and processes more than 100,000 video streams from UAVs per month.
During video analysis, the AI system detects 70% of all enemy targets in real time and helps identify them both day and night.
Models trained on the Avengers dataset provide the basis for several core operational scenarios. Among them are two of the most common scenarios:
- when an operator acquires a target and the drone then autonomously adjusts its trajectory during the final stage of the mission;
- when an unmanned system is assigned to enter a designated area, autonomously detect a target, and act in accordance with the mission logic.
Such scenarios gradually reduce reliance on continuous manual control and expand the capabilities of autonomous systems in real-world combat conditions.
How to join Avengers Labs
The first defense companies have already signed licensing agreements with the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine to use the Avengers Labs platform. Partner countries can also join Avengers Labs.
Companies wishing to join can submit an application on the website. Applicants will then be assessed for compliance with the established criteria:
- have no ties to the aggressor state among their owners, beneficial owners, or management;
- not own businesses in the aggressor state;
- not be under any international sanctions or sanctions imposed by Ukraine;
- neither be located in nor operate in the temporarily occupied territory.
The full list of criteria and the terms of participation are set out in Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 310, adopted in March 2026.
Following the review process, companies will receive feedback on the next steps required to gain access to all capabilities of the Avengers Labs platform.
