Ukrainian defence companies to launch joint production projects in Denmark
Ukrainian defence companies are set to launch new joint production projects in Denmark.
The Memorandum of Understanding on this matter was signed by Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, and Danish officials – Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen, Minister of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs Morten Bødskov, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
The Memorandum provides for Ukrainian defence companies to launch production in Denmark, establish joint facilities, exchange technologies, and attract EU funding to implement joint projects.
“The signing of the Memorandum marks an important step towards building a new security system in Europe and strengthening the capabilities of the defence industries of our countries. During the war, jointly manufactured equipment will support the Defence Forces of Ukraine. Over the long term, Ukraine’s promising security solutions and expertise will also enhance the defence capabilities of our allies,” the Minister of Defence of Ukraine emphasised.
Danish Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen noted that strengthening integration between the defence industries of Denmark and Ukraine offers numerous advantages.
“The most evident of these advantages is the ability to help Ukrainians produce weapons for the frontline in a secure environment, away from massive russian air strikes. At the same time, closer cooperation between the defence sectors of our countries will boost Denmark’s innovative potential and further strengthen its national defence,” noted the Danish Minister of Defence.
During a meeting with his Danish counterpart, Denys Shmyhal expressed gratitude for the steady and systematic support provided by Denmark to Ukrainian warriors.
The parties also discussed the exchange of expertise and technologies aimed at countering russian drones.
“In particular, there are strong prospects for cooperation with European partners within the framework of the ‘Drone Wall’ initiative, through which we will jointly coordinate our response to russia’s aerial provocations,” noted the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
In addition, the parties focused on the next steps in industrial cooperation. The defence ministers agreed to pursue further development of strategically important projects within the ‘Build with Ukraine’ initiative.
