Ukraine's first ground-based firefighting robot approved for use in the Armed Forces

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine codified and adopted an engineering ground-based robotic firefighting system for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

A robotic fire-extinguishing complex is a mobile tracked platform with special equipment for delivering pressurized water or special flame-extinguishing foam. Safely positioned, the operator guides the robot towards the fire's epicenter using a remote control. Adjusting the liquid delivery to the fire source can be controlled remotely.

The robot firefighter operates up to 2 km from the operator in open terrain and up to 400 m in rough terrain. Via a video camera installed on the platform, the operator can see visuals of the hazardous area where the fire is being extinguished.

Originally developed to meet the needs of civilian emergency services, the ground robotic system attracted military interest. A robot of this kind is required in scenarios with unexploded ammunition, near burning equipment that may lead to ammunition detonation, and in other potentially dangerous circumstances that endanger the lives and health of military personnel. At the military's request, the chassis of this robotic platform was made more durable. Enhancements also have been made to the control range and battery longevity.

Due to its tracked chassis, this firefighting robot can navigate challenging landscapes and handle burning debris. It is designed to operate in extreme heat and generate a “water wall” using its water cannon.
