Ukraine strengthens defense cooperation with Sweden and Lithuania: outcomes of the Copenhagen negotiations

During his working visit to Copenhagen, Ukraine's Defence Minister Rustem Umerov held bilateral meetings with the Defence Ministers of Sweden and Lithuania to discuss key areas of defense cooperation.

During talks with Swedish Defence Minister Pål Jonson, the primary focus was accelerating the delivery of military aid. The parties also outlined prospective investment areas for joint industrial projects in the defense sector and explored avenues for cooperation in satellite communications and space technologies.

“Cooperation in the defense industry remains a strategic priority. We have outlined the next steps for establishing joint production facilities, as Ukrainian combat experience and technologies can enhance the defense capabilities of our nations,” Rustem Umerov emphasized.

The Defence Minister of Ukraine specifically highlighted Sweden's preparation of a new large-scale military aid package, which will address Ukraine's priority defense needs.

Rustem Umerov also held a meeting with Lithuanian Defence Minister Dovilė Šakalienė. The talks primarily focused on the supply of weapons and ammunition for the Defence Forces of Ukraine.

Rustem Umerov thanked the Swedish and Lithuanian partners for their unwavering support of Ukraine and their commitment to making rapid and vital decisions to enhance regional security.
