Ukraine’s defence needs and cooperation in defence industry: Denys Shmyhal met with German Ambassador
In Kyiv, Ukraine’s Minister of Defence, Denys Shmyhal, met with the Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine, Heiko Thoms.
During the meeting, Denys Shmyhal congratulated Ambassador Heiko Thoms on his appointment and expressed gratitude to Germany for its leadership in supporting Ukraine.
“First and foremost, I briefed the Ambassador on our needs — funding for drone production and reinforcement of air defence capabilities. We must intensify pressure on russia through sanctions and by degrading the resources used to wage war,” said Denys Shmyhal.
The Defence Minister also emphasised the importance of swift decision-making, given the intensified shelling ahead of the winter season.
“We also discussed cooperation in the defence industry, the development of existing joint ventures, and efforts to launch new ones. I invited German defence companies to localise production in Ukraine. I am grateful to Germany for its active cooperation,” concluded Denys Shmyhal.
