Ukraine's Defence Minister, Rustem Umerov, held a meeting with Estonia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Margus Tsahkna. The main focus of the talks was to strengthen defense and technological assistance for Ukraine in 2025.
Together with intelligence representatives, Rustem Umerov briefed Estonian partners on the frontline situation and the critical needs of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
“Particular focus was placed on enhancing Ukraine’s air defense systems, a pressing priority due to constant attacks with ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as drones targeting civilian and critical infrastructure,” the Ukrainian Defence Minister emphasized.
The Ukrainian side also identified two key areas for support: provision of Western models of long-range weapons and funding for defense production.
Margus Tsahkna reaffirmed Estonia's readiness to continue supporting Ukraine. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia also concurred that frozen russian assets could serve as a resource to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
The parties also discussed prospects for deepening cooperation in digital technologies. As a co-leader of the IT coalition, Estonia has already made significant contributions to enhancing Ukraine’s technological capabilities.
“Support for the Ukrainian army is a contribution to the security of all Europe. I sincerely thank Estonia for its unwavering assistance,” Rustem Umerov said.
