In Kyiv, Ukrainian Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal and UK Defence Secretary John Healey signed a development roadmap for the Ukraine–United Kingdom one-hundred-year defence partnership.

The roadmap establishes a framework for defence cooperation in 2026 across several key security areas.

“This marks an important step in delivering large-scale projects enabled by the One Hundred Year Partnership Agreement between the United Kingdom and Ukraine,” said Denys Shmyhal.

He expressed gratitude to John Healey for the visit and, alongside representatives of the intelligence services and the General Staff, briefed the foreign delegation on the consequences of the large-scale combined russian attack overnight.

“Strengthening air defence and supplying munitions for these systems remains a key priority. The United Kingdom has already made a substantial contribution to reinforcing our capabilities to counter russian terror. From February, production will reach 1,000 Octopus interceptor drones per month,” said the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.

The discussions also covered:

  • potential joint strategic industrial projects in air defence and long-range weapons;
  • prospects for localising the production of Swedish Gripen aircraft that include technologies from UK companies;
  • enhancing the protection of Ukraine’s maritime domain.
  • preparations for the next Ramstein-format meeting, scheduled for February.

“I am deeply grateful to the United Kingdom for its invaluable support. I extend my thanks to John Healey for his personal leadership and steadfast support for Ukraine,” Denys Shmyhal concluded.
