Ukraine and the Netherlands held discussions on developing aviation, investing in drone production, and strengthening air defense capabilities

Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Oleksandr Kozenko, Acting Commander of the Air Force Lieutenant General Anatolii Kryvonozhko, and Commander of Air Force Aviation Colonel Oleksandr Diakiv met with representatives of the Dutch Ministry of Defence.

The Dutch delegation was headed by the newly appointed Director of Project Management for Ukraine at the Netherlands Ministry of Defence, Bert de Smit. He arrived in Kyiv to assess the current security situation and review the progress of joint projects.

“The Netherlands has made one of the most significant contributions to strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, and we are grateful for this support. There is considerable potential to expand joint projects, and we greatly appreciate your expertise,” noted Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Oleksandr Kozenko.

The Ukrainian side briefed representatives of the Dutch Ministry of Defence on the security challenges facing Ukraine. A representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reported on the buildup of russia’s military production capabilities. Special attention was given to the status of projects under the Air Force Coalition.

Acting Commander of the Air Force Lieutenant General Anatolii Kryvonozhko and Commander of Air Force Aviation Colonel Oleksandr Diakiv briefed partners on the priorities facing the Command and the critical needs to enhance aviation effectiveness. Countering enemy guided aerial bombs (GABs), repelling missile and drone attacks, and neutralizing enemy aircraft and air defense systems remain the most urgent challenges and objectives.

Deputy Defence Minister Oleksandr Kozenko acknowledged the Netherlands’ investments in Ukrainian drone manufacturing, including long-range strike capabilities. He outlined the next steps to advance the partnership in this area.

In turn, Bert de Smit, Director of Project Management for Ukraine at the Netherlands Ministry of Defence, assured continued active cooperation and the development of joint defense capabilities.
