Ukraine and Spain are strengthening their defense cooperation with the signing of an agreement on military training

During his visit to Madrid, the Defence Minister of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, held talks with the Spanish Defence Minister, Margarita Robles. They discussed key European security issues and the enhancement of Ukraine’s Defence Forces.

The parties outlined the priority areas for cooperation that require focused attention. In particular, discussions focused on enhancing industrial collaboration, bolstering air defense, and supplying ammunition and armored vehicles.

Margarita Robles presented a detailed plan for providing assistance to Ukraine in 2025. As a result of the discussions, the Defence Ministers signed an agreement to train Ukrainian military personnel, which will elevate defense cooperation between the two nations to a new level.

The Spanish side also expressed interest in learning from Ukraine's experience in modern warfare. 

“I am sincerely grateful to Spain for its unwavering support from the very first days of the full-scale invasion, which included military aid and training for our defenders,” Rustem Umerov said.
