Ukraine and NATO discussed strengthening defense capabilities and the development of the defense industry

Before the NATO-Ukraine Council meeting, Ukraine’s Defence Minister Rustem Umerov met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
The parties discussed the prospects for developing the Ukrainian defense industry and strengthening Ukraine's military capabilities. The Minister of Defence highlighted that although Ukraine has considerably strengthened its capacities, international assistance remains indispensable for effectively countering russian aggression.
Special attention was given to enhancing the defense capabilities of NATO and European countries. The talks' participants stressed the necessity of a well-coordinated and proactive strategy to address modern security challenges.
“Ukraine does not abandon its strategic course - we see our future in NATO. This is our security priority, and our army is already an essential part of Euro-Atlantic security,” Rustem Umerov emphasized.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine thanked the NATO Secretary General for the constructive dialogue and support, emphasizing the importance of further cooperation.
