Ukraine and NATO agree on cooperation priorities: air defense, F-16s, HIMARS, and technological edge

Ukraine’s Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov met with Patrick Turner, NATO Senior Representative in Ukraine, and Lieutenant General Curtis A. Buzzard, Commander of NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU) and Commander of the Security Assistance Group – Ukraine (SAG-U).

Mykhailo Fedorov expressed gratitude to NATO for its sustained support and effective coordination of critical defense assistance, including through the PURL initiative, which provides Ukraine with crucial air defense ammunition. Protecting the skies is the top priority, prompting Ukraine to transform its lower-tier air defense.

The parties agreed on key cooperation priorities: strengthening air defense, advancing Patriot, F-16s, and HIMARS, as well as joint efforts to sustain a technological edge.

Ukraine is sharing unique combat experience, real-time battlefield data, and proven technological solutions with its partners, the Defence Minister added.

A separate track of cooperation focuses on coordination within the Ramstein format, together with Germany and the United Kingdom, to accelerate decision-making and the delivery of required assistance to Ukraine.
