Ukraine and Japan coordinate steps to deepen security cooperation

First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Sergiy Boyev, and the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine, Yuji Tokita, discussed further steps to deepen security cooperation between the two countries.

The Japanese delegation expressed gratitude to Ukraine for its participation in the DSEI Japan 2025 Defence and Security Equipment International exhibition. Mr. Yuji Tokita noted that such events and bilateral dialogues contribute to strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and Japan.

In turn, Sergiy Boyev emphasized that along with Ukraine’s priority to enhance defence cooperation, humanitarian and financial support remains important.

“We are interested in mutually beneficial cooperation and open to proposals. Japan demonstrates a high level of technological development, which could become a key to deeper engagement,” stated Sergiy Boyev, First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine.

Japan expressed interest in exchanging experience with Ukraine, particularly in the field of innovative developments.

In conclusion, Sergiy Boyev stressed that Japan’s support for Ukraine once again confirms that the Pacific and European regions are united: “We face common threats, and our response to them must be a joint one.”
