Ukraine and Italy have discussed supplies of air defense systems and cooperation in defense technologies

On the sidelines of a regular Ramstein meeting, Ukraine’s Defence Minister Rustem Umerov held bilateral talks with Italian Minister of Defence Guido Crosetto.

The central focus of the talks revolved around Ukraine's need for missiles for air defense systems. The parties explored the opportunities Italy could offer, leveraging Italy’s significant expertise in producing air defense systems and related ammunition. Considerable focus was given to the prospects of joint production of air defense systems and missiles.

“The joint production of air defense systems and missiles will enable the creation of long-term solutions to address the defense needs of both nations,” emphasized Ukraine’s Defence Minister Rustem Umerov.

During the meeting, Ukraine’s Defence Minister expressed gratitude for Italy's recent military aid package and outlined Ukraine's current critical priority needs. Rustem Umerov voiced hope for the timely delivery of the promised aid.

Special attention was paid to Italy's leadership in the Armored Vehicles and Maneuverability Coalition. The Minister of Defense of Ukraine emphasized the importance of delivering Italian armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles.

The Ukrainian side reaffirmed its readiness to engage in any form of cooperation with leading Italian defense companies. 

The defense ministers of both nations agreed to resume dialogue shortly, focusing on concrete proposals to enhance defense cooperation.
