Ukraine and Germany discussed European security and enhancing defense cooperation

During a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (Ramstein format) in Brussels, Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov met with German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius.
The parties discussed the continued operation of the Ramstein format and agreed that this mechanism remains crucial for coordinating international aid to Ukraine.
Particular attention was given to Europe's role in achieving a just peace and enhancing security on the continent. The participants of the meeting emphasized the need for European countries to boost defense budgets and scale up the production of ammunition, air defense systems, heavy armored vehicles, and other essential military equipment.
“As Germany is one of the leaders in supporting Ukraine and European security, Germany’s decisions are pivotal to the continent’s stability. These decisions must be both prudent and bold, yet made in a timely manner. Only through collective efforts can we secure victory and peace in Europe,” emphasized Rustem Umerov.
