Rustem Umerov: Ukraine and France are prepared to collaborate on weapons and ammunition manufacturing
During the official visit to France, the Defence Minister of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, met with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, and the Minister of the Armed Forces of France, Sébastien Lecornu.
Strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities was the main topic of the talks.
Rustem Umerov briefed the French side on the situation at the front and the urgent needs of the Ukrainian military. France has expressed willingness to provide the Ukrainian Defence Forces with additional ammunition and weapons.
The parties also deliberated on launching a new cooperation format to manufacture weapons and ammunition in Ukraine. According to Rustem Umerov, Ukraine is willing to allocate land, issue permits, and establish contracts for these enterprises, and France will assist with the funding required to commence production.
“We are in the process of developing long-term contracts that allow French enterprises to produce weapons in Ukraine. This will enhance our defense capabilities and strengthen our partnership,” said the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
Together with Emmanuel Macron and Sébastien Lecornu, Rustem Umerov also visited the training area where Ukrainian military personnel are trained under the supervision of French instructors. France will provide significant support to the Ukrainian brigade, including armored personnel carriers, self-propelled artillery systems, trucks, and other essential equipment.
“I sincerely thank the people of France and President Macron for their leadership and support, which significantly strengthens the capabilities of our Defence Forces,” Rustem Umerov said.
