Ukraine and Estonia to advance joint defence projects and share expertise on fortifications

Minister of Defence of Ukraine Evgeniy Khmara met with Minister of Defence of Estonia Martin Herem. The two sides discussed the battlefield situation, the Defence Forces' current needs, and specific avenues for further defence cooperation.
Ukraine and Estonia agreed to continue developing their mutually beneficial defence partnership to strengthen the security of both countries.
Promising areas of cooperation include data sharing, the development of joint ventures, and the implementation of projects that can strengthen the defence capabilities of both Ukraine and Estonia.
Ukraine’s experience to strengthen Estonia’s defence
The parties paid particular attention to Ukraine’s experience of modern warfare, which can already help strengthen Estonia’s defence and counter emerging threats.

The Ukrainian side provided a detailed presentation of its experience in building modern fortifications, including underground protective structures.
Ukraine is scaling up fortification solutions based on real wartime experience. We already know how to build fortifications and adapt them to new threats. I am confident this expertise will benefit Estonia.
Consistent support for Ukraine
The Minister of Defence of Ukraine thanked Estonia for its consistent support, its decision to allocate 0.25% of GDP annually to assistance for Ukraine, as well as for its leadership in the IT Coalition and active engagement with other partners.

Evgeniy Khmara emphasised Ukraine’s readiness to continue deepening practical defence cooperation with Estonia and developing joint solutions to strengthen the security of both countries.
