Ukraine and Denmark have signed an agreement to enhance cooperation based on the ‘Danish model’

Ukraine and Denmark are strengthening their defense partnership. Ukrainian Minister of Defence Rustem Umerov, Ukrainian Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin, and Danish Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen signed the Letter of Intent to enhance cooperation between the countries in the defense industry.

In particular, the agreement will advance the ‘Danish model’ of financing Ukrainian production, which has already demonstrated its effectiveness.

“Denmark is one of Ukraine's most steadfast allies. Since 2022, Denmark has provided more than €7 billion in military aid. Together, we are advancing the Ukrainian defense industry: the Danish model has already secured nearly €600 million, and €1.5 billion in investments are planned for 2025,” Rustem Umerov stated.

Furthermore, Denmark has committed to allocating €2.2 billion annually from 2025 to 2028 to address the priority needs of the Defence Forces of Ukraine. The country also continues to provide and maintain F-16 aircraft, as well as train Ukrainian pilots and technical personnel.

The meeting in Kyiv was also attended by representatives of the Danish parliament, along with the Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine for European Integration, Sergiy Boyev, and the Acting Head of the Defense Procurement Agency (DPA), Arsen Zhumadilov.

The parties discussed the security situation and the enemy's plans. 

Brigadier General Oleh Zakharchuk, Commander of Air Force Aviation, elaborated on the role of F-16 aircraft in defending our skies. The Ukrainian delegation appreciated Denmark's leadership in facilitating the transfer of modern combat aircraft to Ukraine.
