To enhance food quality control for the AFU, the MoD brings in the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection to assist with inspections

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine continues to strengthen the quality control of food products supplied to the Defence Forces of Ukraine. Henceforth, all food products delivered under state contracts for the defenders will undergo inspection in the laboratories of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
The corresponding memorandum of cooperation was signed between the State Operator for Non-Lethal Acquisition (DOT), the Ministry of Defence’s procurement agency, and the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
Andrii Sozanskyi, Executive Director of the State Operator for Non-Lethal Acquisition (DOT), emphasized that this step is of great importance given the high level of expertise of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection in conducting laboratory testing of food products.
“This year, the DOT has already intensified its efforts to improve food quality. Particular attention has been paid to product groups most vulnerable to possible manipulation, especially dairy products. The next step will be mandatory laboratory testing of sausage products,” said Andrii Sozanskyi.
In turn, Serhii Tkachuk, Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, said that the Service’s extensive laboratory network operates in every region of Ukraine.
“It is these laboratories that conduct tests on food products to ensure compliance with safety requirements. Cooperation with the DOT will enhance the timely identification of risks and ensure an adequate level of health protection for our defenders,” emphasized Serhii Tkachuk.
Additionally, during a meeting attended by the heads of the MoD’s Central Directorate for Logistics Support Development and the Directorate of Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine, the parties agreed on further cooperation steps, including exchanging information on testing methodologies aligned with current standards, as well as ensuring laboratories’ readiness to conduct necessary analyses.
