The Verkhovna Rada has taken an important step towards reforming the "Defense of Ukraine" subject

On May 22, the parliament adopted draft law No. 11092, aimed at improving the system of initial general military training, which concerns the subject "Defense of Ukraine". The law was supported by 297 deputies and aims to increase the state's defense capability. According to the document, initial general military training will include military-patriotic education and will be implemented at the third level of general secondary education. Training will be conducted in general secondary, vocational and specialized pre-higher education institutions. Training programs will be developed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in agreement with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Training will be conducted with the aim of forming in students primary general military knowledge and special competencies in the field of defense consciousness.

"The adoption of this draft law is an extremely important step towards forming the defense consciousness of citizens and increasing the state's defense capability. The training system in a modern and accessible form should become part of the life of every Ukrainian. The basics of first aid, primary skills in operating drones, the basics of survival in crisis situations, the basics of tactics - these skills should be as widespread as possible. There is still a lot of work ahead, but the adoption of the draft law is an impulse that will help reboot the processes of military-patriotic education and create a corresponding qualitatively new and effective system," said Deputy Minister of Defense Nataliіa Kalmykova.
