Rustem Umerov: The UK will provide Ukraine with more artillery, long-range weapons, and robotic systems
The Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, met with the UK’s Secretary of State for Defence, John Healey. As the Ukrainian delegation visited the United Kingdom, discussions were held among the parties regarding further steps to ensure ongoing support for the Defence Forces relevant to both the present situation and future needs.
The Ukrainian Minister of Defence specifically remarked that the United Kingdom is equipping the Ukrainian Armed Forces with necessary ammunition supplies, namely for artillery systems, mortars, and air defence systems, as well as anti-tank mines.
Rustem Umerov thanked the people and the government of the United Kingdom, as well as John Healey, for their support.
“This is an example for other partners because timely deliveries make it possible to destroy the enemy more effectively. By the end of the year, more AS-90 artillery systems will appear on the frontline. We also have good news with regard to long-range weapons and robotic systems - the enemy will feel it on the battlefield,” the Minister of Defence of Ukraine emphasised.
Furthermore, the United Kingdom is proactively training and equipping the Strategic Reserve Brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Rustem Umerov and John Healey agreed to jointly work out a list of priority needs to be financed with frozen russian assets.
During the talks, the parties brought up the topic of investment in the Ukrainian defence industry. British partners are already involved in production. However, there are plans to expand these opportunities and increase defence production.
Rustem Umerov also informed his British counterpart about President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Victory Plan, particularly in defence.
