The President of Ukraine introduced Denys Shmyhal to the Ministry of Defence team

Today, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy introduced the new Minister of Defence, Denys Shmyhal, to the Ministry of Defence team.

“It is a great honor and responsibility to lead the Ministry during this challenging historical period,” emphasized Denys Shmyhal.

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine also outlined three key priority areas to accelerate ongoing efforts.

According to the Minister, the top priority is to provide service members with all essential supplies: weapons, clothing, gear, food, as well as medical and psychological support. A special emphasis should be placed on the timeliness and completeness of service remuneration.

“Our objective is to fulfill the tasks assigned to the Ministry by the President of Ukraine. The front lines must be equipped with more Ukrainian-made weapons,” emphasized the Minister of Defence.

Special focus is placed on new technological solutions, including UAVs, such as interceptor drones, fiber-optic-controlled drones, FPV drones, Deep Strike capabilities, robotic systems, missile programs, Ukrainian ballistics, and more.

A key aspect is integration with international partners. The Ukrainian and European defense industries must form a unified ecosystem. Objectives include widening the pool of partners under the ‘Danish model’ framework and fostering the growth of the Capability Coalitions.

“Currently, over 60% of state budget expenditures are directed toward the security and defense sector. Financial resources must be used as efficiently as possible to strengthen Ukraine,” stressed Denys Shmyhal.

He summarized that a significant amount of work lies ahead: “Each decision and its effective execution translates into lives saved, a stronger Ukraine, a debilitated enemy, and progress toward peace for millions of Ukrainians.”
