The Ministry of Defence will control the quality of document certification services provided by commanders of military units - Nataliia Kalmykova
Representatives of the Ukrainian Notary Chamber, at the initiative of the Ministry of Defence’s Central Department for Protection of the Rights of Military Personnel, held the Notary Toward the Military training course for representatives of military units on the specifics of document notarization.
During the event, Deputy Defence Minister Nataliia Kalmykova announced that the Ministry would monitor the quality of document certification services provided to military personnel by military unit commanders. In particular, there will be a prompt response to challenges and the provision of appropriate training.
“The entitlement of a commander to certify the documents of military personnel when a person cannot get to a notary during the war is very important. Today, however, we face cases where this service is provided incorrectly. As a result, a service member gets problems instead of solving the issue. Therefore, we need to raise the level of competence and awareness of commanders to avoid such cases. My hope is that this will be just the first event and that we will be able to train everyone who needs it,” said Nataliia Kalmykova.
The Deputy Defence Minister also said that the Cabinet of Ministers is currently drafting a resolution on the establishment of a military escort service. “After adopting the relevant document, each brigade or separate unit will have appointed persons in charge who will coordinate issues related to payments, reports, leave, temporary duty assignments and medical care for service members. This will help defenders who have recently begun to serve in the Armed Forces, as well as their immediate commanders,” she stressed.
“We analyze issues raised by service members and their families. Today, we focus on the most common issues we have to deal with, such as powers of attorney, wills, and personal requests. I can assure you that notaries in Ukraine are assistants to the military and are always ready to help. Thanks for your cooperation!" - Olena Kyryliuk, First Vice President of the Ukrainian Notary Chamber.
