The Ministry of Defence prioritizes long-range weapons production in 2025

Employing long-range weapons plays a vital role in reducing the aggressor country's military capabilities. Missiles, loitering bombs, and deep strikes enable the destruction of logistics networks, military facilities in russia’s deep rear, and concentrations of enemy troops and equipment. Furthermore, an effective missile defense system is being developed to shield Ukrainian cities from enemy strikes.

Therefore, one of the key priorities for the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine in 2025 is the development of innovative systems capable of striking enemy targets at maximum range with high precision.

In 2024, investments in this sector have already delivered tangible results on the battlefield:

  • Domestic production of the first missiles has begun, with cruise missile production scaling up;
  • The development and testing of ballistic and cruise missiles have been completed, enabling an increase in the strike range;
  • Efforts are underway to establish the supply of surface-to-air missile systems (SAMs) jointly produced by Ukrainian defense manufacturers and foreign partners.

The Ministry of Defence continues to prioritize the development and production in 2025, with a focus on long-range weaponry, namely:

  • Ballistic and cruise missiles intended to serve as a deterrent to the aggressor country;
  • Components for the missile defense systems capable of effectively protecting peaceful Ukrainian cities from enemy strikes;
  • A homegrown missile defense system with specifications that will match those of the leading foreign analogs;
  • Control systems for anti-aircraft missile systems.

Specifically, negotiations are ongoing with partners to receive foreign-made systems, while modern Ukrainian missile defense systems are being developed in collaboration with Western companies.

The Department of Missile Weaponry and Missile Defense Systems Development, established in 2024, oversees such projects. This has enabled the integration of modern technologies, Ukrainian expertise, and allies’ support to develop effective combat solutions.

The Ministry of Defence is open to collaboration with the business sector, scientists, and international partners through the Department of Missile Weaponry and Missile Defense Systems Development. For inquiries, please contact: [email protected].
