The Ministry of Defence is set to trial the ‘Sapper Track’ program for safe demining at a testing range for new technologies
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine plans to conduct trials of the software-hardware system provisionally named ‘Sapper Track. This solution enables the real-time tracking of explosive ordnance clearance, visualizing the path of demining experts to improve their safety.
“The ‘Sapper Track’ system will undergo testing at a dedicated testing range for evaluating new demining technologies. This will provide an opportunity to assess its effectiveness in real-field conditions and determine its potential for future deployment in military and humanitarian operations,” said Colonel Olha Drobot, a representative of the Main Directorate of Mine Action and Environmental Safety.
Ministry of Defence representatives were introduced to the ‘Sapper Track’ program during a visit to a Ukrainian enterprise specializing in the production of advanced Trembita metal detectors and the development of innovative technologies aimed at improving the efficiency of demining operations and enhancing civilian safety.
Additionally, a mobile application was demonstrated, designed to provide timely notifications to the public about hazardous areas, thereby reducing risks to civilians.
As Colonel Olha Drobot emphasized, effective collaboration between the Ministry of Defence and national technology manufacturers in the field of mine action contributes to improving the safety of both military personnel and civilians.
