The Ministry of Defence is enhancing the prepayment system for weapons procurement

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the Ministry of Defence's proposal to enhance the prepayment mechanism for state contracts under the Defence Procurement Agency (DPA). The relevant government resolution amending the procedure for using DPA funds was adopted last week.
“This decision will speed up the delivery of critical weapons and military equipment to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Under Ministry of Defence contracts alone, domestic weapons manufacturers received more than UAH 170 billion last year,” said First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk.
Weapons manufacturers are eligible for advance payments from the DPA for up to 24 months.
“Enhancing the prepayment system will facilitate rapid payments under long-term contracts with Ukrainian manufacturers, including those on the “Weapons of Victory” list. Currently, there are 17 active contracts for the supply of long-range missiles, mortars, artillery systems, armored vehicles, and more," said Glib Kanevskyi, Director of the Defence Ministry's Procurement Policy Department.
