The Ministry of Defence has returned state-owned land and real estate properties in the Lviv region, valued at a total of UAH 15.5 million

In December 2024, in cooperation with the prosecution authorities, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine ensured the restoration of state ownership of real estate properties at two military towns in the Lviv region, which unauthorized persons had illegally used for over 20 years.

In particular, land plots over 1.5 hectares, valued at over UAH 15 million, have been returned. One of the municipal councils illegally appropriated these lands, where a developer had begun construction on a residential project.

Additionally, a non-residential property with an area of over 400 square meters and a value exceeding half a million UAH has been returned to state ownership. The building will subsequently be used to fulfill defense needs.

“Restoring state ownership of defense-related assets is not only a matter of justice but also a means of enhancing our defense capabilities. Every reclaimed asset, along with every square meter of territory, will be dedicated to the defense of Ukraine, prioritizing national defense over private gain. We will resolutely continue our fight against any attempts to unlawfully appropriate state property,” said Dmytro Klimenkov, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Defence's Main Directorate for Defence Land and Funds emphasizes that such cases of illegal appropriation of military facilities and defense lands are not isolated. Nonetheless, the Ministry of Defence remains committed to identifying such cases and returning assets to state ownership.
