The Ministry of Defence enhances the operational framework of the Military-Scientific Council
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has approved an updated Regulation on the Military-Scientific Council. This permanent consultative and advisory body under the Ministry of Defence oversees matters concerning the advancement of military science, including planning, funding, and coordination of scientific and scientific-technical activities.
“Refining the Council’s objectives and improving its operational framework will enable a more effective application of scientific approaches to substantiate the most critical decisions in the activities of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the State Special Transport Service. We will strengthen the development of the Ukrainian Defence Forces, as well as their armaments and military equipment, by incorporating modern scientific methodologies and real combat experience. The updated composition of the Council will be approved soon,” stated Volodymyr Mirnenko, Head of the Department of Military Education and Science of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
The Military-Scientific Council will now be chaired by the relevant Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine. The Council membership will include the Director of the Department of Military Education and Science, representatives from structural units of the Ministry of Defence apparatus and military administrations, scientific institutions, higher military educational institutions, and military training units of higher education establishments under the Ministry of Defence’s jurisdiction, as per a designated list.
To address urgent issues efficiently, the Military-Scientific Council will operate three sections:
- On military-theoretical issues;
- On military-technical policy issues;
- On issues related to the development of the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
