The M113 armored personnel carrier has been equipped with a new weapon station
Ukrainian arms manufacturers have enhanced the firepower of the M113 armored personnel carrier, which the Defence Forces are receiving as part of international assistance. They developed and mounted the Tavria 14.5/7.62 remote-controlled weapon station on the exterior armor of the APC.
This was reported by the MoD’s Main Directorate for Support of the Life Cycle of Weapons and Military Equipment.
“Now, thanks to the new weapon station, which consists of two machine guns—one with a 14.5 mm caliber and the other with a 7.62 mm caliber—the gunner can fire from inside the armored vehicle, observing the battlefield through a monitor,” said Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Dmytro Klimenkov.
Before that, the M113's primary weapon was a 12.7 mm machine gun. The machine gunner engaged targets from a poorly protected position on the vehicle’s armor exterior.
Manufacturers and designers of weapons and military equipment are encouraged to contact the Main Department of Support for the Lifecycle of Weapons and Military Equipment via email for further inquiries regarding the codification process: [email protected].
