The IT coalition and the ‘Danish model’: Ukraine and Luxembourg discussed security priorities for 2025

During the Munich Security Conference, Ukraine’s Defence Minister Rustem Umerov discussed further security cooperation between the two countries with Luxembourg’s Minister of Defence Yuriko Backes.
The parties agreed to enhance Europe's defense capabilities by ramping up arms production within the EU and Ukraine. Luxembourg confirmed its willingness to contribute to this process.
During the meeting, Yuriko Backes provided details on the volume of assistance to Ukraine for 2025. The parties agreed to determine the primary focus areas for the allocated financial resources.
Special emphasis was given to the IT Coalition, where Luxembourg holds a leading role. The parties also discussed funding mechanisms for the Ukrainian defense industry following the ‘Danish model’.
“Many thanks to Yuriko Backes for supporting Ukraine and willingness to enhance our strategic partnership. “For the past three years, Luxembourg has been a reliable ally of Ukraine,” Rustem Umerov pointed out.
