The establishment of a testing site for advanced mine action technologies has commenced

The Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with its partners, has selected a location to establish a testing site for cutting-edge demining technologies, including those incorporating artificial intelligence.
Representatives of the Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety, the United Nations Development Programme, the Ministry of Economy, and the National Association of Ukrainian Defense Industries conducted a site visit to the future testing site. Meeting participants evaluated the effectiveness of the existing facility and discussed its potential for testing advanced technologies.
“This marks the initial step in a strategic initiative to establish an innovative testing site. Together with our partners, we have identified key areas for further efforts and decided to establish a training and testing complex for developing cutting-edge mine action technologies. This facility will not only drive technology modernization but also serve as a repository for innovative solutions. This also paves the way for new dimensions of international partnership,” said Olha Drobot, a Main Directorate of Mine Action representative.
UNDP and the Ministry of Economy have expressed interest in advancing this project as a foundation for establishing a coordination platform for innovations in humanitarian demining. The next phase involves outlining a roadmap, setting up a working group, and preparing for initial testing.
The participants of the visiting meeting emphasized that the establishment of such a modern testing site will promote the development of cutting-edge technologies, which will accelerate humanitarian demining, enhance deminers' safety, and reduce risks to civilians.
